Salsa is a very popular dance from Cuba and has evolved since the beginning of last year from dances like Son, Guajira and Rumba. These dances have their roots from the Slave era . The Son has gained its popularity through bands like "Buena Vista Social Club" and "Vieja Trova Santiagera".
During the sixties the Salsa, which means 'sauce', emerged from the Latino areas in New York. In these ghetto's Cuban and Latin-American immigrants made music with influences from their own background. Music and Dance have always been important factors in these cultures. It's therefore a 'dance from the streets' and has expressivity, passion, firy and above all: it's fun!
These are the ingredients we use in our Salsa courses and teaching methodology. So feel free to check it out!
